Yesterday I photographed a show held in a garage. Well I photographed as much as a could before my camera got way too hot. 38 degree day. Overall it was an excellent little show, with a turn out of really good people. Thanks to Jordan for making it happen, to all the bands that came, especially those that trekked in from interstate, and to all those that came to hang out. I’m processing photos now, so hopefully I’ll have some final shots done soon. This is from Machina Genova’s set. They’re heaps cool and are recording their first release in a matter of days so go check them out and give some support.

Ollie from Broken Hive has got the remainder of our 2011 demo’s with him on the Basement tour. There aren’t many left, so if you’re heading to a show, pick one up as all proceeds are going to Sea Shepherd Australia.

If you can’t make a show, you can get one plus some other rad stuff here - http://www.brokenhiverecords.bigcartel.com/products

Machina Genova.
This band played at the Raein/Loma Prieta house show I went to a little while ago. A bunch of my homies started this band just before I went on my trip so I didn’t get to see them play their first few shows but they played so well at this one. If you like fast angry music check them out. Some the these guys play in Something Must Break and Vemon Eyes. Check them out too.
Trying to figure out how to shoot shows and getting used to using flashes is hard but trial and error will get me their I hope. It’s exciting making mistakes, it feels like I’m learning about cameras for the first time and it’s something that I haven’t felt in a long time.

Here is a video of us playing one of our newer songs ‘Old Hands’ in a basement. This song will most likely feature on our next release.

merrypule asked: Who did the cover art for the demo? It looks great.

Thanks! Our friend Dase Beard who lives in Melbourne. Listen to Encircling Sea. Worship effect pedals. That is all.

Anonymous asked: beautiful lyrics

Thank you so much. I’ve noticed with the new songs that they’re getting better and that i’m not as happy with these songs but perhaps that’s just me being too self-critical. Anyways, glad you enjoy.

Here’s the lyrics to the 2011 demo:
Machina – Genova
Demo 2011

1.    A War On Heaven: Into sanctuary, my ghost wanders these lonely shores, dancing by the light of roaring fires and timber floors, without hope without home, I live by the stars and the wind, pouring heart and soul into earth and stone to feel alive again. But for one last time I shall enchant the seas, I will open the sky and stir the breeze, I’ll be the cloud’s rolling thunder over white washed towns and grey cities. My ghost will cry out to a loveless world, a swan song of presage, heaven will collapse under guilty saints and wash me away.

2.    Orphan: Cutting at my wrist to feel, something that I know is real, the pain of loss and loneliness, the train, the razor that stole my innocence. Cancer spreading to her heart, a father’s guilt and life apart, suicide pact for an only son, his name he traded for a way out. “Goodbye my love, my world, my debt, the pain is one that I can’t forget. Breathing, bleeding, sinking burden, goodbye my son” I am orphaned. Slash my wrists to ribbons. In our search for clarity we found but broken trust, an open hand for the bastard son into a church of liars lust, our father who spits on us, send us death, beneath your empty sky of regret.

3.    A Harlot’s Progress: A harlot’s progress, devoid of love, raining nails into hearts from a snow white dove, rotten blood through rotting veins, killing pompous smiles in its wake. Water marks down cold blushed cheeks, disenchanting romantics beneath guilty sheets, she loved, she lied, to keep her pride, a sickly wolf amongst the bitter fucking sheep. Will I ever keep the pace, every reoccurring fault and mistake in their place, as they keep smiling while I step further back, wondering why I’m so unhappy with the things they lack. Black as night, my wings take flight, carry me to morning light, where I can rest and soon forget as I watch distant stars ignite. You broke my heart. Harlot.
